
Derik Moore is a lifelong resident of Johnson County with a long and distinguished career in public education, communications, and community service. He retired from public education in August 2021 after serving as Director of Communications for Sheldon ISD in Houston. Prior to that role, Derik spent eight years as Director of Communications for Weatherford ISD, 13 years as Public Information Officer for Alvarado ISD, and one year as Director of Marketing and Communications for Hill College.
Since retiring, Derik has remained professionally active, freelancing as a photographer and writer for Hill College. He has also photographed TCU football for Learfield IMG since 2003, combining his passion for storytelling, sports, and visual media.
Community service has always been a cornerstone of Derik’s life. He is a past Lions Club President in both Alvarado and Weatherford, a former Lions District 2-E2 Zone Chair, and past president of the Friends of the Grandview Public Library. As part of his commitment to public education, advocacy and lifelong learning, Derik is currently serving his fourth term as a Trustee on the Grandview ISD School Board and is also the Board Secretary.
Derik and his wife, Karla, have been married for over 30 years and are the proud parents of two grown daughters, Kennedy and Alexa. His professional experience, creative talents, and dedication to service reflect his deep commitment to strengthening the communities he calls home.
